New Food Allergen Declaration

At Flame Tree we remain committed in providing food that meets high safety and suitability standards and we understand the importance of allergen management and awareness.

To ensure that we continue to provide accurate information for you to make safe meal choices, we have updated our declaration of food allergens present in our meals to align with the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) new 2024 allergen labelling rules.

What are the new changes?

Our Allergen Notice and Allergen Declaration Cards have been updated to provide clearer declaration of food allergens in our meals.

The main change you might have noticed is the introduction of Wheat as a new separate allergen in our declaration cards.

Other changes include:

  • Shellfish allergen includes both mollusc and crustacean

  • Treenuts allergen includes the nine common treenuts (almond, Brazil nut, cashew, hazelnut, macadamia, pecan, pistachio, walnut & pine nut)

  • Milk is listed alongside dairy allergen

What does it mean for you?

Our Flame Tree team will continue to ensure all dietary requirements are safely catered for, to the best of our abilities.

During meal service:

  • Check out our new Allergen Notice around the servery/dining stations to better understand the diverse range of allergens we handle in our kitchen, and through the products with source from our suppliers.

  • Continue checking the new Allergen Declaration Card on display at the serveries before meal selection.

    • For those at Waiparuru Hall, check out both the Allergen Declaration Card and the ‘Available Today’ display located at each station.

  • If you are unsure of what to have, or have any questions about the meals, do not hesitate to ask one of our staff!

Please note that:

  • Due to the nature of self-service stations, there is a risk of cross-contamination.

  • If you do have a dietary requirement (e.g., food allergies), you have the option to request separately plated meals and salads from your head chefs.

If you would like more information, also check out our blog on terminology changes in our menus.

We take food allergies seriously and will do our best to ensure all dietary requirements are accommodated.
